Pain Reprocessing Therapy

Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) is a highly effective treatment for neuroplastic pain.

Neuroplastic pain (or nociplastic pain) is pain that is caused by the brain and nervous system misinterpreting safe signals from the body as dangerous, creating real pain without active tissue damage. It is a “learned” pain pathway, often triggered by stress, anxiety, or trauma, which makes the nervous system hyper-sensitive.

Neuroplastic pain is REAL PAIN and having neuroplastic pain does not mean that your pain is not real or that it is ‘all in your head.’

PRT is a system of psychological techniques that retrains the brain to accurately interpret and respond to signals from the body that are interpreted as by thereby breaking the cycle of chronic pain.

Somatic Tracking

Somatic tracking is a key component of PRT. It is a mindfulness-based technique used to treat chronic pain and physical symptoms by retraining the brain to perceive bodily sensations as safe. Instead of avoiding pain, you gently observe sensations with curiosity and neutrality—noting qualities like shape or movement—while sending messages of safety to the nervous system.
