Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or CBT is a very well researched model of therapy that explores the link between our thoughts, emotions and actions. CBT teaches people to understand how their thoughts influence their feelings and ultimately their actions and how to reframe unhelpful thoughts so that they don’t cause so much difficulty. 

CBT is sometimes called a ‘here-and-now’ approach because it focuses on the present rather than exploring the impact of past experiences. 

CBT is particularly effective in treating conditions such as; obsessive compulsive disorder and other anxiety-related conditions. There are also specialised forms of CBT for certain mental health conditions such as trauma-focused CBT for treating trauma and PTSD and CBT-CP for treating chronic pain
