Lauren Steingold – Clinical Psychologist

In Japan there is a concept known as Ikigai which roughly translates as ‘reason for being’ and refers to an confluence of factors where someone has the opportunity to do something they love, that they’re competent at, and which benefits the world and being able to earn a living from doing this thing. I feel unbelievably lucky to have found that in my profession.

I qualified as a Clinical Psychologist in South Africa in 2012 and in 2015 I relocated to the U.K. where I worked as a Clinical Psychologist in the NHS for 7 years and in then moved into private practice. Since qualifying I have continued to develop my clinical skills through training in various therapeutic modalities. This enables me to work flexibly with clients where I can adapt my approach to suit them rather than the other way around.

I value acceptance and freedom – for myself and others and I bring these values into my work. I aim to help people experience freedom from suffering and freedom from feeling stuck in maladaptive behaviours or relational patterns or freedom.

In 2005, I completed a post-graduate diploma in Yoga Psychology whilst studying abroad in India and a year later I completed a yoga teacher training course. My time teaching yoga showed me the value and importance of finding ways to connect to our bodies. My training in yoga and meditation has been integral to my practice as a psychologist and has taught me to see health as holistic rather than divided into the body or the mind.

I am a qualified clinical psychologist and I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I am also an Accredited EMDR Practitioner and registered with EMDR Europe.
